Chilingarov and Gruzdev discussed the upcoming celebration of the record dive to the North Pole

President of the Association of polar explorers, Artur Chilingarov met with ex-head of the Tula region, businessman Anatoly Gruzdev, with whom the polar explorer took part in historical expedition to the North Pole, on the sidelines of the XXV St. Petersburg Economic Forum. 

In 2007, Chilingarov, Gruzdev and five other explorers dived on two submersibles "Mir" to the bottom of the Arctic Ocean at the point of the geographic North Pole. The expedition members planted the national flag at the bottom and also obtained evidence that the Lomonosov Ridge belongs to the Russian shelf. 

In 2022, the Association of Polar Explorers will hold an official celebration on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of this historic event, which will be held on August 2. 

SPIEF-2022 takes place from June 15 to 18. Special Presidential Envoy for International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov took part in the opening of the stand program "The Arctic - Territory of Dialogue" and discussed the development of the territory with representatives of northern regions, business and science.
